Seagulls and sharks and otters—oh my! Costumed characters were part of the medium for getting the message across on June 8, 2012 as the Coastal America Partnership helped Washington, DC and the nation celebrate World Ocean Day. Striving to educate the public about problems in the ocean, and to encourage ocean stewardship, all while having some fun, a multitude of activities were executed at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.
