The Coastal America Partnership is hosting a unique opportunity for creative artists and photographers who love the ocean and marine life. Beginning September 1, 2013 and ending December 16, 2013, CAP’s Learning Center network will host regional art and photography competitions whose theme emphasizes the National Ocean Policy and the Essential Principles of Ocean Sciences. Regional winners have the opportunity to be selected for a North American traveling exhibit that will visit Learning Centers throughout North America for a year and a half starting, June 2014.
The Coastal America Ocean art contest provides a platform for artists to show their appreciation and admiration for the ocean. Artists can use art to provide a visual expression and a deeper understanding of our impact on the ocean and its importance to humanity. The art contest helps the artist gain a better understanding of this connection through art and to use that art to help the public appreciate the relationship between people and the ocean. Guy Harvey is proud to support the Coastal America Ocean Art Contest and we encourage you to visit www.coastalamerica.gov for more information.
To enter the Ocean art contest, submit your artwork to the appropriate Educational Department of a participating Learning Center. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter. All entries will be reviewed for style, artistic value and how the artwork relates to a Principle or Principles of Ocean Literacy. Artwork must be original and authentic. Copied or traced works will not be accepted. For more information on the Ocean art contest, please visit our website at www.coastalamerica.gov.
